Employment Case Study - Ryan's Story

After receiving employment support, Ryan has found full time employment as a Customer Service Advisor with Ventrica Ltd. Well done Ryan!

Ryan was made homeless and had nowhere to go until he found refuge with the YMCA. However, he was struggling to find employment and was suffering with mental ill-health. Not only that, Ryan was facing the many challenges of living on universal credit.

Then Ryan moved into an Estuary Housing property and was referred to our employment specialist in The Customer and Community Engagement Team for support as Ryan had been out of work for two years. Ryan received support creating a CV, applying for positions, interview coaching and moral support to keep searching for employment.

He was quickly contacted by Ventrica who were interested in his CV and conducted a telephone interview. Following a good interview he was invited to a trial day and subsequently employment. He started his new role with Ventrica in February 2019 and has been performing well, with great feedback from managers. He has also received emotional support from Ventrica and Shaw's trust via counselling, which has enabled Ryan to manage his mental health.

Becoming employed has helped Ryan look after his overall wellbeing as well as his finances which is fantastic! We wish him all the best in his new job.
