SECTA - South Essex Construction Training Academy

SECTA is a government-funded training academy that is working to boost construction skills across multiple academies in South Essex. This opportunity is available to all our residents in partnership with Southend Borough Council.

The training HUBS are based in Thurrock, Basildon and Southend. They provide:

  • Careers advice

  • Employability training

  • Free Level 1 trade training, including CSCS card

  • PPE Equipment

  • Real-world work experience

  • Create action plans tailored to each individual’s aspirations and support needs

  • Must be at least 19 years of age and interested in a career in construction

The demand for skilled construction workers across a vast range of roles continues to grow, with over 22,700 additional construction professionals required in Essex over the next 5 years.

However, there are increasingly fewer people opting for a job in this industry, resulting in a struggle to keep up with demand. SECTA are helping to break down misconceptions and show people just how rewarding a career in construction can be. Through advice, training and support, they are helping to bridge the gap in the skills shortage and help people across Essex find their calling.
