Apprentice Case Study - Shaquille's Story
Shaquille Parchment from Grays, Thurrock left in the picture above with Jake Barnes, Employment Customer and Community Engagement Officer
After receiving support from Jake Barnes our Employment Customer and Community Engaging Officer 17 year old Shaquille has started his three year apprenticeship with Axis Europe. Well done Shaquille!
Shaquille initially left school with the desire to become a car mechanic however he was unable to find a training place at the local colleges. He worked at Nandos and Spartan Metal Recycling, but he still wanted a career with prospects.
He responded to our email campaign and expressed his interest in the Gas and Plumbing engineer apprenticeship. Jake invited him to a 121 session where Jake provided assistance with writing a CV, conducted mock interviews and prepared Shaquille for his telephone interview and face to face interview.
Shaquille started his apprenticeship on Monday 19th November 2018 with Axis Europe and is enjoying the day release course at Barking & Dagenham College. This is a 3-year apprenticeship and we wish him all the best in his new career.
“The support I received from Jake helped me a lot. Before my apprenticeship interview he offered me to come in to prepare for the interviews. I believe I wouldn't have got the apprenticeship without his support.” Shaquille.
