Health and Safety Committee Project Group
Chaired by Ian Martin, Estuary’s CEO, this quarterly committee is made up of our Resident Voice and Influence Members and representatives from each department across the business.
The Purpose
Any proposed changes to current or proposed policies and procedures are presented to the group. If the changes are agreed, this committee is the first stage in its approval prior to being published. Amendments are made to risk assessments, and current Health and Safety issues discussed.
Various quarterly reports are looked into in further detail;
- The Building Safety Report reviews compliance levels, for example, gas safety checks and fire alarm testing.
- The Health and Safety Report presents how may accidents and incidents have occurred with staff or residents in that quarter.
- Training and communication needs are also identified.
- Our Care and Support staff present a separate accident and incident report relevant to their schemes.
- The Damp, Mould and Condensation report presents how many properties have been checked or treated for damp and mould.
- The Safeguarding Report details how many safeguarding referrals have been made in that quarter.
It is vital our Resident and Influence Members attend these meetings to bring wider Health and Safety issues and concerns to the Committee’s attention. The members who attend feed back to the rest of their Panel at their monthly meetings.
RVIP Member Robert Tuck says,
‘My presence on the Panel for me is a natural progression following my role as a Health and Safety Unison rep for over twelve years. Health and Safety is a high priority and always has been with Estuary, which is evident to see at these meetings’.
