Supporting Family Action’s Fun with Food Project

Family Action’s Fun with Food initiative has received a £1,000 boost from the Axis Social Value Fund, delivered in partnership with us.
The project offers families a simple and enjoyable way to cook together. Each week, a volunteer chooses an easy recipe, and customers collecting their food club order receive one or two of the key ingredients for free, along with a copy of the recipe. The meals are designed to be affordable, using the provided ingredients alongside items commonly found in the cupboard.
Family Action runs food clubs three times a week across Southend—on Mondays at Friars Children Centre, Fridays at Centre Place Family Centre, and Saturdays at Summer court Children Centre—supporting more than 40 customers every week. For £4 per crate, families receive a wide range of fresh and packaged food, with the option to buy additional items such as meat and fish at significantly reduced prices.
